STEM Supports the Mission
The Air Force Research Laboratory, Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFRL/AFOSR) is the basic research arm of the Department of the Air Force (DAF). As one of the 10 Technological Directorates (TD) within AFRL, AFOSR is the only TD that operates primarily as a funding organization. Each year, AFOSR funds over 1,200 projects at 209 US universities, over 300 intramural research projects at AFRL TDs, and 375 international projects spanning over 30 countries on five continents.
A small organization with a big mission, AFOSR discovers, shapes, and champions bold, high-risk, high-reward basic research to profoundly impact the United States Air Force and Space Force. To learn more about our funding and career opportunities, read our AFRL/AFOSR Program Overview.
