Life Cycle of an Aircraft

This session will highlight the life cycle of an aircraft, from the engineers who build, to the pilots who fly and the technicians who maintain them. Hear from each member of the team to explore their role in an aircraft’s production.

Key Questions:

  • What is the engineering and design process when building an airplane?

  • What are the most important instruments/facts when flying an airplane?

  • What steps are needed to maintain an airplane?

Expected Outcomes:

  • Students will describe the design process of an airplane.

  • Students will give examples of instruments and other factors required for airplane flight.

  • Students will gain an awareness of the importance of aircraft maintenance.

Grade Level: Middle school and high school.
